STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
This case study will examine the American colonial period and its historical, political, and international relations and forces that combined to generate the early formation of American political and ideological foundations and principles of the American Creed as examined by Samuel P. Huntington's thesis.
The analysis will examine the British laws and political beliefs borrowed by the British colonists from Great Britain through its thinkers and traditions.
I will also show how the primary objectives and policies of the colonists for trade and territorial expansion westward imbued the colonists with a world view of empire and expansion that impacted their foreign relations with Great Britain and its competitor and ally, France, while still functioning as colonies of Britain. Influenced by its vast geographical terrain and potential, it grew in abundant confidence as it sought to expand its borders but was intruded upon by the British government. Beset with the enforcement of unjust laws and codes, which the colonists considered were forced upon them unilaterally, the colonists sought actions to remedy this conflictual situation. The principles of liberty, individualism, democracy, and egalitarianism would be the cornerstones of this new emerging nation that would replace the British colonial structure and relations to fulfill the prophecy of 1760s that predicted that the colonists would seek independence from Great Britain.
